Auto accident injuries: Pickup truck crashes into residence

The Building and Codes Department in Clarksville recently had to determine whether a local residence was habitable after a pickup truck crashed into it. Two adults and a child were hospitalized with auto accident injuries. Authorities say the accident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. on a recent Friday.

According to a police spokesperson, a 34-year-old woman was operating a vehicle that crashed into the Tennessee home and then smashed into a vehicle that was parked next door. The occupants of the home, a man and a woman along with their dog suffered no injuries, although damage to the home was extensive. The occupants of the pickup truck were less fortunate.

Reportedly, the driver, along with a 25-year-old woman and a 4-year-old girl, were all trapped in the pickup truck. Emergency workers had to extricate them all. The were all taken to a medical facility with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Authorities say the accident investigation is ongoing, and they were unsure whether any criminal charges will follow.

A driver is responsible for the safety of his or her passengers. If passengers suffer auto accident injuries due to the driver’s negligence, the injured passengers can pursue claims for financial relief. A personal injury claim can be filed in a Tennessee civil court, based upon proof of negligence and seeking recovery of financial and emotional damages. If the claim is successfully presented, documented claims for medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering would typically be included in a monetary judgment.
